Deb and I are really looking forward to this Sunday, October 2nd, when we will begin our life together with you! I am very eager to meet all of you. The Letter of Philemon says, “I have heard of your love and of the faith that you have for the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God’s people.”(1:5). So we are excited to meet you!
In many ways, it feels like I know you already! You see, we’ve lived 1.5 miles from CUMC for the past 18 years, and especially during the past 7 1/2 years, I’ve driven by your church at least two times every day!
Perhaps you would like to know a bit about us. Deb and I were high school and college sweethearts, and we married just after we completed our degrees at I.U. in 1974. Then Deb worked while I was in seminary in Ohio, and we moved back to take our first church in the Evansville area in 1977.
We have four children, and four granddaughters, who bring us much joy. (Grandchildren ARE life’s greatest blessings!). All four of our children graduated from Lawrence Central, and all three of our sons have degrees from I.U, while our daughter Corrie graduated from Ball State and holds Masters degrees from Indiana Wesleyan.
Our two youngest sons – twins Matt and Tom – were a part of CUMC’s youth group, and they enjoyed their time here, especially the Mission trips of which they were a part. We are eager for next June, when our son Tom and his fiance Katherine will be getting married at CUMC!
I look forward to getting to meet you and your family, and to being a part of the Lawrence Township community. My personal mission statement is to share the love of Jesus in positive and loving ways, so that others may come to know the joy of being a follower of Christ.
See you at Church!
