Supporting Local Food Pantries
Castleton UMC supports local food pantries through regular donations and by volunteering to help during pantry service hours. The pantries we support include: The Sharing Place, 6501 Sunnyside Road; The Community Cupboard of Lawrence Township, 7101 Pendleton Pike; and the student pantry at Lawrence North High School, 7802 Hague Road.
Each month one of the pantries is designated as the recipient of that month’s donations. A list of items in greatest demand is published each month. Volunteers then make a couple of deliveries to the designated pantry each month.
All of the pantries appreciate our donations of food and hygiene items, but they are also in need of volunteers in order to keep serving those in need. Several Castleton UMC members volunteer at both the Community Cupboard and the Sharing Place. Additional help is always needed and appreciated to help stock and staff the pantries.
