One favorite Christmas tradition at Castleton UMC is the Pick-A-Star program, which provides a great opportunity to brighten the Christmas season for families in need. Each year, Castleton UMC partners with Barnes UMC and Crestview Middle School to identify specific families who are struggling financially and lack the means to provide Christmas for their families. Some CUMC families may also receive assistance.  Last year we supported 27 families (119 individuals). Starting, November 20th you may select a “star” or “snowflake” off the Pick a Star Tree in the Legacy Room. After purchasing the gift specified on the star, the gift should be wrapped and returned to the Legacy Room, or the church office no later than Sunday, December 11th. This is also a great time to take advantage of the Gift Wrapping Service that Still Waters Adult Day Care Center offers.

Also CUMNS will be selling Script on both Sunday, November 20th and Sunday, December 4th so people can purchase gift cards if they wish.

The specific needs of each child are captured on a “star” or “snowflake” that is hung on the Pick-A-Star tree.  Congregation members are encouraged to select a “star” or “snowflake” and then purchase and wrap the present. Families receive not only personal gifts, but gift cards to purchase food.
