Soup’s On ministry at Roberts Park is in its second decade of service to our community. Since 1999, Soup’s On has prepared and served nearly 150,000 meals to our neighbors in need. Each Sunday a hot meal is prepared in our large commercial kitchen, and served to 250 guests after our 10:30 a.m. worship service. Churches and organizations from across the Indianapolis metropolitan area participate in this ministry, and each week a different team supervises and shares in the preparation and serving of the meal. This effort takes a crew of 20 volunteers each week, and nearly 1000 each year. This army of volunteers through the years has been led by a faithful core of Soup’s On Leadership Team members, some of whom have been with the program from the beginning.
Castleton UMC serves this ministry by providing meals 6 times per year. There are 2 teams that take turns preparing and serving the meal. Mary Carson and Cristy Catt head up the teams. Each time we serve the congregation graciously provides cookies and brownies.
