Phao
Phao Student Ministries is the youth ministry of Castleton UMC. The name, Phao Student Ministries, comes from the Greek word “phao” which means “to shine” and is spelled with the phi alpha omega Greek symbols.

The idea behind this name and ministry is to challenge students to live a life with Christ that “shines” in every aspect of their lives, as Paul says in Philippians 2:15-16, “…as you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life. This ministry helps students “shine like stars” by encouraging, challenging, and helping students grow in their relationship with Christ through fellowship, Bible study, and worship. The goal of this ministry is to prepare and equip students to share the love of Christ with others, and to have their light shine so bright that those they come in contact with can’t help but see Christ in their lives.

Phao Student Ministries is open to ALL students in 5th grade through 12th grade.

Weekly Programming:

Sundays:

Breakfast Club – Sunday school for 5th-8th graders and 9th-12th graders.

P58 Fridays:

2-3 times a month we host Friday evening programming for 5th-8th grade students called P58 Fridays from 6-8pm in the Ministries Center Overtime. P58 Fridays are an opportunity for our older elementary and middle school students to fellowship, worship and grow in their relationships with Jesus in a time designed just for them. We take off site trips to Sky Zone, X-Site Laser Tag and other places throughout the year so this is a great transition ministry for younger students into the Phao Student Ministries family.

Throughout the week:

P912 Small Groups – These groups are for high school students and are divided by age and gender. P912 small groups meet in homes, restaurants, and at the church. Groups are by sign up only. If you are not in a group and would like to be, contact Andy Hayward and we will make sure you get into a small group!

Monthly Opportunities:

Phao Worship Nights

Phao Worship Nights happen the third Sunday of every month from 6-7:30pm in our Family Life Center. All 5th-12th grade students and their families are invited for dinner, fellowship and worship led by our student based praise band. A great way to wind down your weekend and gear up for the week ahead by joining us monthly for Phao Worship Nights.
