30 Days of Catch: Week 3

by | Sep 24, 2024 | 30 Days of Catch to Strikeout Hunger, Pastor's Blog

Another week of playing catch to strike out hunger is complete! During September, Hunger Action Month, Pastor Matt is playing catch with a different person each day. It’s an effort to build relationships in the community and help feed neighbors facing hunger along the way. Please visit give.gleaners.org/catch2024 to help him reach his goal!

Read below for a recap of all his Week 3 catch partners.

Day 15

I was not shocked that Tom Ellefson had a great throwing arm, but apparently Luke was surprised! Great game of catch after worship at Castleton United Methodist Church this afternoon with Tom on Day 15 of 30 days of catch for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana!

Day 16

My catch partner on day 16 of 30 days of catch is an artist and a ballplayer! Dan Cooper and his brother Les played a game of catch with me this afternoon. They went to Arlington High School here in Indianapolis. Les was more of a basketball player and Dan played baseball, but both enjoyed a game of catch with me for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.

Day 17

Day 17 of 30 Days of Catch for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Inc. with my friend, local community leader, and Indianapolis City-County Council member Nick Roberts! Great way to begin a day by playing a game of catch. Nick started on the Council this year and is really enjoying his work being in the community. Thanks for serving the City of Indianapolis and playing catch Nick!

Day 18

It got a little Rowdie for day 18 of my “30 Days of Catch” campaign to raise money for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Inc. I played a quick game of catch at Victory Field with everyone’s favorite mascot! Rowdie Bear is also Indy’s oldest mascot but still plays like a young cub (not a reference to any teams in Chicago).

Day 19

Playing catch for the Circle City on day 19 with Castleton United Methodist Church member and President of IndyHub, Al Carroll. IndyHub creates spaces, events, and opportunities for 20- and 30-somethings to get connected, involved and make a difference in Indianapolis. It’s a great organization with a great president! Check them out!

Day 20

Day 20 of my 30 days of catch with Rev. Jen Huff who is the Associate Director of Mission and Justice of the Indiana United Methodist Conference – INUMC. Jen’s kids helped her practice. They did a good job because Jen played a good game of catch!

Day 21

Even Indiana Fever fans can enjoy a game of catch! I enjoyed playing catch with Patty and Sonia on day 21 of 30 days of catch. They follow Fever basketball closely, but agreed that we’re all on the same team against hunger.
