Ways to Help Family Promise of Greater Indianapolis
Family Promise is one of our mission partners that serves families who are homeless. There are several ways you can help the families directly.
- Donate to the Night Without a Bed Fundraiser
- You can help by donating to the Night Without A Bed fundraiser for their apartment shelter program. CLICK HERE to donate online to the Castleton UMC team.
- The culminating activity will take place at Castleton on May 3 from 2- 4 PM. There will be bounce houses, DJ, food trucks and more. All are invited.
- Take a Meal to a Family in the Apartment Shelter Program
- Castleton will again take meals from May through September on Thursdays to a family in an apartment. If you would like to participate, CLICK HERE to sign up.
- Donate housewares to the Apartment Shelter Program
- Throughout April we will also be collecting items needed for the apartments. Items do not have to be new. Items needed are pots and pans, twin sheet sets-reg or XL, towels & washcloths, trash cans for kitchens, cleaning supplies for kitchen and bath, brooms and dustpans, mops/Swiffers, toilet paper, and paper towels.

New Series: Rooted & Grounded in Love
Begins April 27
Christ is Risen! (He is risen indeed!)…Now what? This is a question that the early Christians and early Churches wrestled with. Two thousand years later, we are still unpacking all the implications of the “Christ Event” (His life, death, resurrection, and ascension.) What does it all mean? What significance and relevance does it have for us today? What are we to do with all this?
Thankfully, we have Scripture to guide us. We’re going to spend eight weeks digging into the letter to the Ephesians. Ephesus was a hub of early Christianity from which “…all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.” (Acts 19:10) The apostle Paul started the church in Ephesus, and wrote this letter to them. May we receive Paul’s prayer for them as a prayer for us, “…that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power, together will all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:17-19)
We will be going through Ephesians in our Sunday service and discussing it in our Table Groups. Join us as we discover together what the resurrection of Jesus means for us today.

Eviction Court Watch Training
Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance (GIMA), along with local congregations, have teamed up to create the Indiana Eviction Justice Network with the aim of helping those facing housing insecurity. The Community Transformation Team (CTT) of Castleton UMC has been meeting with local leaders in this conversation to learn more about opportunities to serve our community, specifically when it comes to housing. Recently, the team met with leaders from the eviction court watch program.
Eviction Court Watch aims to:
- Reduce the shame and stigma associated with evictions by being a visible and supportive presence in courtrooms.
- Observe patterns of how judges are treating those facing evictions.
- Humanize a complex, systemic problem and uplift tenant stories (anonymously or with permission).
- Collect essential data.

Serve at Soup’s On at Roberts Park UMC

Peace Walk

Join us for a special event in honor of National Youth Violence Prevention Week. A coalition of local organizations including Genesys Solutions, Hoosiers Concerned About Gun Violence, Indy Public Safety Foundation, MCCOY, Moms Demand Action, New B.O.Y., Peace Learning Center, Students Demand Action, and VOICES Corp. is coming together to host a Peace Walk on Friday, April 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park. We hope this event will bring together community members, youth leaders, and advocates to promote peace, healing, and resilience in response to the ongoing challenges of gun violence.

Fish Fry Volunteers
The 2025 Fish Fry is on the schedule for July 17-19. To ensure that we have enough support to continue offering this community outreach event, some volunteer benchmarks have to be met by May 1. Having these commitments locked in will give the Fish Fry committee the confidence to host the Fish Fry in 2025. Spring Work Days
April 16, 23 & 30
We hear you! We are providing a set of Wednesday evenings from 6-8 PM on April 16, 23, and 30 for our Spring Workdays this year.
We have both inside and outside activities available. Meet at door 1. Advanced sign-up is preferred, but don’t let that stop you. We’ll be glad to see you! Sign-ups will have first dibs on the projects. Projects will vary according to weather and progress. On April 30, there is an added bonus of the free community dinner in Fellowship Hall.
