Prayer Vigil to End ICE Detention

Starting Saturday, June 27 , through Saturday, July 4, all are encouraged to come to the outskirts of the Miami Correctional Facility to hold vigil and pray for our immigrant brothers and sisters being detained there. You may come any time during the day (daylight hours suggested) and stay as long as you wish to pray, sing, hold signs, and meet with others who want to bring attention to the plight of our immigrant family members. Lee Goodman, Witness at the Border, is the organizer for this weeklong vigil. They have found that a more sustained presence at these detention centers is bringing more attention from the press, legislators, and community members and resulting in some center closures and improvements at others. The idea is to let the current Administration know that our protests are not going away.
This extended Vigil Week is open to all who want to bring attention to the unjust and horrific conditions at the Miami Correctional Facility. The regular monthly Multifaith vigil on Monday, June 29 at 2 PM, hosted this month by the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis and Northern Indiana, will also take place, for those who might prefer a more structured prayer vigil.
As always, our prayer vigils will be peaceful, law-abiding, and respectful.

Fish Fry Volunteers
Our 45th annual Fish Fry is scheduled for July 16-18. The Fish Fry is one of our biggest events each year and requires lots of volunteers to make it happen. Please use the button below to sign up.

The Purge Sale
Friday, July 24 & Saturday, July 25 | 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Family Life Center
This summer, we are finding joy in simplifying and sharing joy by re-homing / repurposing things we are no longer using. The Purge Sale, being held the weekend after the Fish Fry, will sell only items that have been cleaned out from the church properties. The sale is open to the public on July 24 and 25 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Book Nook – Now Accepting Books & Puzzles
Book Nook will be at the Fish Fry again this year. All proceeds will go to Family Promise. We need all of your books and jigsaw puzzles for adults and children. Please, no magazines or textbooks. Items may be placed in the coat room off the narthex.
Mission Guatemala Trip
The final deadline to go on the mission trip to Mission Guatemala, June 5- 12, 2027, is approaching. A $200 deposit is required by July 5 to reserve a spot on the trip. If you are planning on going or need more information, please contact the church office. We will be opening up spots outside of our church soon, but we want to make sure everyone from CUMC who wants to go has a spot first.
