Unite to Support Streets to Home Indy Initiative

The Streets to Home Indy initiative is more than a housing campaign—it’s a moral call to action. Backed by a powerful multifaith coalition, this effort aims to provide permanent housing and supportive services to 350 of our unsheltered neighbors by June 2026.

The Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance (GIMA) is calling on congregations and community members to help raise $270,000 as part of a broader $2.7 million commitment. Your support can be the turning point in someone’s life.

  • Save the Date: August 15–17, 2025 — A weekend of shared commitment and giving
  • Kickoff Event: Beyond The Bridge screening, August 14 at St. Luke’s UMC
  • Ways to Give: Special offerings, matching gifts, or budgeted contributions

Let’s move from managing homelessness to ending it—together.

Rabbi Aaron from the Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance will be at Castleton UMC on Sunday, August 10.

United Women in Faith Sunday

On Sunday, August 10, Castleton United Methodist Church will be recognizing the Castleton United Women in Faith (CUWF). This community of women lives out their faith through service and advocacy by focusing specifically on improving the lives of women, children, and youth. During the worship service, there will be a few minutes dedicated to honoring the work and impact made by this group of outstanding women. There will also be a pinning ceremony, whereby several individuals who have gone above and beyond their normal call of duty will receive a special pin. Additional information about the CUWF unit will be displayed in the Narthex.

Third Grade Bibles

If you have a child in third grader or higher who has not yet received their third grade Bible from the chuch, please email Meg. A class for students receiving a Bible and their grown-up will be held Sunday, August 17 at 10:00 AM. Bibles will be received during worship on Sunday, August 24.

New Worship Series: Invitation to the Jesus Life

Begins August 3

Lots of people claim to be “Christian” these days. (What does that even mean any more?) Far fewer people seem to actually be very much like Jesus. Perhaps fewer still even want to be like Jesus. What about you? Do YOU want to be like Jesus? Do you think that’s even possible? If it is possible, would you like to know HOW?

Here at CUMC, we take becoming like Jesus very seriously. It is part of our mission after all– “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” A disciple (or apprentice) is someone who is learning to become like their master.

Our next series, beginning Sunday, August 3, and running until the beginning of Advent, is an Invitation To The Jesus Life–Experiments in Christlikeness, based on the book with the same title by Jan Johnson. We will be taking a deep dive into the life and ways of Jesus, and learning how we, too, can embody Jesus-like qualities and characteristics.

We will also have the honor of hosting Jan Johnson the weekend of November 15-16. (More details to come.) We hope you join us for this series–both in our Sunday services and in our Table Groups. Books are available to purchase while supplies last.

Grief Share at Castleton UMC

GriefShare: A Support Group to Help You Move Through the Grief Process

New Session Begins August 11

A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. You’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way. The new session begins on August 11 and will continue on Monday evenings at 6:00 PM through October 27.
